Friday Fact: United States Farmland Development

In the United States, farmland is being developed at about 3 acres per minute and farmers must use the best agricultural practices to maximize their efforts. Continuing to use innovative, science-based practices that maximize productivity and profit while minimizing environmental damage is the key to sustainably.

At Daona Farm, by diversifying our dairy and raising some beef, we breed our heifers to Wagyu. This calf will then be raised alongside our dairy replacement heifers. By using this method we generate beef for consumers without increasing our milking herd or producing more milk than needed. Our finishing beef group eat refusals from the dairy herd. This complimentary system works to promote sustainability.
